Parish Mission Statement

Saint Luke Parish is a Catholic community formed to carry out the mission and teachings of Jesus Christ and to share his message of love. We are called to be responsible stewards of god's many blessings. Moved by the Holy Spirit, we willingly share our time, talents and treasure to perpetuate the work of our Lord and to facilitate the teachings of the Catholic church to God's children of all ages.

Our liturgical life radiates throughout our community as we live into our Baptism.

Spirit filled celebrations of the Eucharist strengthen us to live out the Gospel.

We promote and participate in life-long Christian formation.

Through our Religious Education programs, youth ministry, and adult education programs.

Resourceful stewardship is core to our Gospel living.

We build up the Body of Christ through our spiritual growth, volunteer efforts, and financial parish support.

We bring Christ to our surrounding communities through:

our various charitable activities, through the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Human Concerns committee.

History of Saint Luke Parish

Saint Luke Parish was officially established to serve the people of Brookfield and New Berlin on June 25, 1956. Boundaries were set at Barker Road on the West, to Cleveland Avenue on the South, to Sunnyslope Road on the East and to Bluemound Road on the North.

Masses were initially celebrated in Calhoun Hall and then in the Gym of Calhoun School until a church could be built. The Church was built in 1958, the Rectory in 1959, the Convent in 1960, the School in 1961 and the Recreation Center in 1980. The narthex was erected in 2005.

Father James Meehan was the founding pastor in 1956. Father Harvey Brahm served as pastor from 1972-2002. Father Francis Malloy served the parish from 2001 to June of 2007. Father Ken Augustine joined Saint Luke Parish on July 3, 2007as the pastor here at Saint Luke.
